Just us Two

266, 265, 264, 263, 262, 261, 260 more days to go...

Oh, it's finally here(!)...our two year anniversary...actually on Wednesday. Cotton is the traditional anniversary gift for the second year of marriage and I say it couldn't be a better year for it. Sometime around year forty, I believe that the gift is real estate or land or something huge like that, but I am thrilled to get a few new items for my wardrobe, getting a gift is not technically shopping after all. (Although, I'm pretty sure I won't be getting real estate in year forty).

I often wonder what I should do with my wedding dress. Do I save it for my future daughter whom I might never have? (I'm destined to have a bunch of boys.) Do I remake it into something I can wear on a regular basis? (wearing an actual wedding dress to a casual dinner would just be weird.) Still not sure yet, but considering I never cleaned it after the wedding day, I'd say my options are pretty limited. (oops)

At my wedding, I did change into a shorter more casual white dress after our reception. The Thread Social dress is knee length, cotton with a long white silk bow, and pleated down the front and back. Last year for our first anniversary, I wore my trusty black soccer sweatshirt (very sexy, I know). This year, I wore my Thread Social wedding day dress..and then went out to dinner...for fried chicken (again, very sexy, I know).

Have a good week!

Congratulations

273, 272, 271, 270, 269, 268, 267 more days to go...

It's been a week of endings and new beginnings...which of course brings me to my own personal endings and beginnings. It's funny reminiscing about your experiences as you partake in other people's journeys.

Monday was Graduation Day at Penn..not just any graduation day but one of a friend and colleague who so earned and deserved his PhD. I often think about what I was feeling and wishing when I graduated from college; what I would become, where I would end up living, who I would marry (if at all)? All of those things fell into its place with time...and the one thing that has always remained the same is that I still love to get all dressed up. Since the graduation was a bit of a formal affair, I did just that. I wore a sleeveless silk ruffle dress with a black cardigan and a beaded belt. Personally, I thought I looked comfy and adorable...to me, that hit's the jackpot.

Rainy Tuesday...didn't ride in, so just threw on casual jeans, tank, and linen button-down for a quick outfit. Tuesday night, some friends joined us (Nick and I) for a new workout class called TRX. It was insane. Not to name any names, but one of us threw up, one couldn't stop grunting, another one pretty much stopped breathing, and we all thought we were going to die. Overall, it was painfully hilarious. Am I going to go back? You bet. I have to start filling up my calendar with new things to do since I still have about 8 shop-less months ahead of me. BTW, I felt soreness and pain for days (laughing and coughing was torture).

Ben and Adele's wedding was this weekend as well. We all know that I love weddings and pretty much anything to do with love and romance. Every time I'm at a wedding, I can't help but think of my own wedding...hands down, the most fun day of my life yet. Their day was perfect, such a beautiful bride, sweetly nervous groom, and lots of adoring friends and family. What more could anyone ask for? As for my attire, I wanted to wear a wedding dress as well but don't worry, I know today is not about me, at all. (I'm dramatic but not crazy). I wore a simple blue silk dress, snake skin belt, and a pair of white stilettos from Furla.

Congratulations to everyone on all their special moments this week. Looking forward to all the new adventures in the future.

I am sooo looking forward to next week...my second anniversary!!! Yay!

Layer Cake

280, 279, 278, 277, 276, 275, 274 more days to go...

The countdown seems to go by so much quicker when I do a weekly update instead of a daily update. Either that or time really is going by quicker as I (slowly) get older. I have to say that I enjoy reflecting back on the past week to remember things that happened, what kind of foods I tasted, what I wore or didn't wear, and of course just the overall mood of a whole week. The week of May 10-16 was all over the place. It wanted to be rainy then not, hot then cold, windy then steamy. Even the people were all over the place (including me)...good mood, crappy mood...so much drama, none at all..etc.

The riding continues but I did have to get dress a few days due to the thunderstorms and downpours. It felt like a layering week since I couldn't really make up my mind what I wanted to put on...so I just put it all on.

We did attend a Bacon themed party this weekend. Yes, that's right, a bacon themed party. In hindsight it really doesn't seem like such a good idea at all but at first, we were all so excited. Who doesn't love bacon?!?! Still in the mood for layering, I decided to mix it up with some fun floral prints. I donned on a ruffly red sun dress and layered a sheer black and white floral blouse underneath. The blouse belonged to my mom when she was a twenty-something so it's practically the same age as me:) A big black grosgrain ribbon seemed like an easy belt and an even easier adjustable belt for when I start to eat too much bacon. So the evening started out great...we made chocolate covered strawberries sprinkled with some caramelized bacon bits (surprisingly tasty). The rest of the spread included: bacon guacamole, bacon fried bacon, bacon pralines, blue cheese bacon dip, bacon wrapped anything (shrimp, toast, asparagus), a bacon chocolate bar from Vosges Chocolates, and a bacon infused vodka. And if that wasn't enough, we can't forget about the Bacon Explosion... which I believe is bacon mixed with sausage and cheese wrapped in bacon wrapped in more meat and cheese wrapped in bacon..basically a bacon layered meat cake. After that night, I know I won't be eating bacon again for months...which makes me sad since it's kind of a staple in my diet. BTW, the bacon vodka tasted like dirty philly gutter water..although that didn't stop my husband from drinking several glasses of it.

Molly and I (know as favorite Aunt #1 and favorite Aunt #1) spent most of night loving on Porter, aka the cutest baby in the universe. Seriously, the cutest baby boy ever.

Sunday was spent in the usual way...food shopping, eating, and buying flowers. We headed down to Headhouse Farmer's Market for some greens (after last night, that is all we will be eating), some cheese, a few fruits, and some fresh cut flowers...sweet williams, I believe. What a perfect Sunday spent with my love :) Now it's off to dinner....

Have a great week!

Happy Tiers

285, 284, 283, 282, 281 more days to go...

It's kinda nice just wearing athletic gear for the week...no worries about it getting dirty or wrinkly or finding matching shoes. It was the perfect week for my return to biking to work, sunny and warm. What else happened this week...let's see...Darren turned 33 on Thursday (Happy BDay, boyfriend!), LOST killed off 4 main characters (sniff sniff)....and I think that was pretty much it.

It's Mother's Day weekend and unfortunately Nick and I are no where near any of our mothers. But it's nice to know that they are living their lives doing the things they want. My mom, Lin, lives in VA and is such a beautiful woman. She always looks amazing and has such a great sense of style....a sense of style that I would like to think she passed on to me. My other mom, Tracy, lives in CA and is quite the world traveler. She is heading to Japan and Taiwan with my sister (Jennifer) in a few weeks (I'm SOOOO jealous) and I hope to get some amazing gifts (hint, hint). She also has a great sense of style, timeless and classic...and has let me raid her worldly collection of fun jewelry. Nancy is my mother-in-law and she is has a bit of both my moms in her...loves to travel and loves to look nice. Right now she is living it up in Paris and surrounded by all those markets and shops that I so wish I could shop in. Although they are all so far away from us, I hope they know that we are thinking of them this weekend (as in most weekends (and weekdays too)) and that we love them exactly the way they are (most of the time:))

I found some fun tiered tops to show off this weekend....brightly colored and lightweight. They make me feel like I'm on vacation when I have them on. Nick and I wandered around parts of Philadelphia we love and some we hadn't been to before...so I guess it kind of like a vacation, discovering new places.

Have a great week! See you next weekend!

For the Love of May

287, 286 more days to go...

May is one of my favorite months because it was the month of my wedding:) For those who know me, I like to celebrate BIG. Instead of birthdays, I celebrate my birth months, and instead of anniversaries, I like having anni-month-eries. It's going to be two years of wedded bliss this month...isn't love so sweet?

Rain on Monday, again. No surprise here. Galoshes and shorts will keep me dry and cool.

Tuesday is the last day that I commute to work by train until the weather either gets too cold, hot, or rainy to bike to work. I'm so excited to ride again, I feel it's a great way to get some outdoor time and a bit of exercise at the same time. Obviously I won't be wearing dresses anymore (until the weekends), so I put on my happy color-drenched dress as a salute to May and all the great things that comes with it.

Meet Kelley (yes, I named my bike). She's old and heavy and slow, but she's my baby and she's got the cutest basket attached to her:)

Girls Gone Wild

289, 288 more days to go...

Now I understand why strippers deserve to have money thrown at them...pole dancing is hard work! For Adele's bachlorette party, she wanted to go pole dancing...to learn some moves for her lucky future husband. We were all on board (secretly, who doesn't have a sexy inner stripper waiting to come out?) but we didn't realize how much of a workout it would be...and it didn't help with 5 inch hooker heels. Our instructor was quite the rock star on the pole and made it look so hot and easy. We looked hilarious but it was sooo much fun...plus, when do grown women ever get to strut around in public with booty shorts (unless Jangmee recruits you to play dodgeball)? Sign me up for some more!

I pulled on a casual strapless dress over my pole dancing ensemble for the rest of the night which included lots of dancing, eating, men in uniforms, and sombreros? Saturday night definitely brought back memories of how I dressed in college..everything was tight and short....oh, how times have changed. There is something to be said about youth. Sunday was so hot and humid that I wished we lived in a nudist colony. A loose fitting tank and some cargo shorts was all I managed to get on while frantically searching for places with central air.
