Easy, Breezy, Summer Girl

236, 235, 234, 233, 232 more days to go...

I made the mistake of doing more than a little window shopping this week. The stores were all so nice and cool...and they all have their doors wide open with the breezy rush of air conditioning gushing out, teasingly inviting me in. I know I shouldn't have touched anything...but everything was just so cute. And man, do I miss shopping! I'm starting to feel like everything I put on is so old and outdated which is just making journey of not shopping really hard. The good news is that I didn't buy anything that I wasn't suppose to. The bad news is that I really, really, really want to:) Oh, life and the choices we make.

The rest of this week's outfits consisted of lots of tanks, shorts, and skirts. I've rediscovered the beauty and function of headbands and a pony tail holder. They definitely saved me from shaving my head this week:)

Skirting Around

237 more days to go...

Day 2 of Summer. Almost 100 degrees outside. 98% Humidity. Summer in Philly is always a little too hot, a little too sticky, and a little too gross. A little blue tank and a little cotton skirt are the answers to such a day. Now it's off to any room with air conditioning....

Summer Lovin'

238 more days to go...

Happy first day of Summer!!! Let the vacation, sleeping in, beach going, Popsicle eating begin....oh wait, that no longer applies to me (except maybe the Popsicle part). I wish that even as adults, we were allowed the same fun we use to look forward to and have in the summer. Doesn't all of Europe take August off for holiday? (I know it's not even July yet.)

Today was a bit of a scorcher yet tomorrow is suppose to be worse. Since I am going to be taking the train all week, I get to indulge in wearing fun summery outfits:)

My strapless cotton dress with a tribal print made me feel as if I had gotten it while on vacation somewhere far away. I added a plain white tee, a worn in leather belt, and jeweled sandals to make it more work appropriate.

I love Summer:)

Fun in the Sun

245, 244, 243, 242, 241, 240, 239 more days to go...

As the temperature rises, it's hard not to just sit by the pool all day to cool down. That was precisely what I did all weekend. I biked into work all week, but by Friday, the ride home almost made me pass out..it was SO sunny and hot (and having jet black hair doesn't help when the sun is beating down on you). So I think I am going to take all of next week off from the bike commute and resort to taking the train...at least until it cools down again.

Since I had such a lazy poolside weekend, I wore shorts and a tank as my cover-up but mostly just laid out in my swimwear while reading the second novel of Stieg Larsson's trilogy. What a relaxing way to say good-bye to Spring:)

A Complete Outfit with Dressing on the Side

252, 251, 250, 249, 248, 247, 246 more days to go...

One cool day this past week and I got to wear jeans and a scarf again:) I'm finding that I really love the combination of pink and yellow..(makes me think of candy). Speaking of candy, I decided to make a conscience effort to not eat as much sweets. I think that since the start of the no shopping year, I've gained about 10lbs (oops). Usually when I start biking to work in the Spring, I have to eat nothing but red meat and potatoes to maintain my weight, otherwise my clothes start to get a little too loose for my taste.....but not this year. Either it's a sign of me aging (damn metabolism) or maybe it's a sign telling me to put down the bucket of ice cream (or maybe it's a sign telling me to shop! shop! shop!)

There was another wedding this weekend. Looks like everyone decided to get married this year:) The adorable couple was married by their gay uncles (so sweet!)... and I wore another blue dress. Now that I'm looking at the pictures, I have to say that this is definitely not my favorite dress. Funny how images in pictures doesn't always agree with what you see in the mirror...oh well, the day wasn't about me anyways. A couple of other short and easy dresses rounded out the rest of my week.

Have a wonderful week!

Put it on Replay

259, 258, 257, 256, 255, 254, 253 more days to go...

Can you believe it's June?! And it's HOT...so hot. This probably wasn't the best week to take off from work to work on the house, but oh well. Nick and I stayed home all week to knock down a wall, redo our bathroom, finish our bedroom, plant a veggie garden, reupholster furniture, and etc which then led to rewiring all the electricity, redirecting our pipes, flooding our basement, ripping off our banisters, breathing in some nasty 80 year old poisonous dust, and having a hysterical exhaustive meltdown (really, we just slept for like 15 hours on Saturday). I wore the same outfit every single day last week , at least until the weekend. I didn't have a tee shirt that I wanted to ruin with paint so I just wore Nick's white undershirt and some running shorts. Needless to say, by Friday, that shirt was no longer white (gross). There is something to be said about having to put on the same outfit everyday...like wearing a school uniform...no thinking, no choices, no time wasted..it's nice having repeat outfit:)

Saturday and Sunday, I finally cleaned up and put on real people clothes. A halter dress and a linen trapeze dress was all I could manage to put on. It is seriously hot out there. It is official, I like bitter cold winter more than sweaty hot summer. You can only get so naked, it's not like you can peel off your skin. So the moral of this story is that I always seem to want what I can't have.

Have a good week!
