Snow Days

25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19, 18, 17, 16 more days to go...

It's been over a week and I'm so tired of the snow. When will it end? My experiment is almost over and it's starting to feel a bit anti-climactic due to this suck-y weather. Instead of going out with a bang, I find myself wearing the same thing everyday: lots of layers, lots of hats, jeans, and boots. What else is there to wear in four feet of snow? Speaking of which, I totally need a new pair of snow boots...the old ones aren't cutting it anymore:) I think it's time to start thinking about my first purchase(s)!

Velvet Crush

26 more days to go...

Getting dressed for a date is always confusing. Do I look sexy? Does my ass look huge in these jeans? Is it too tight? You know, the usual what will the object of my affection think? Good thing I have a girl date tonight (and good thing I'm married..Nick loves everything I wear:)) For my dinner date tonight with Garnette, I wore jeans, Chanel pumps, and a crushed velvet blazer.

Birthday Girl

33, 32, 31, 30, 29, days to go...

A weekend full of old friends, new friends, and lots of family. Seriously, the best birthday ever:) My birthday party top was from my oldest BFF who couldn't make it to Philly..thanks, Jen! I love it! I had one of my best friends from high school, my best friend from college, and of course my sister.

I only wish this week could last even longer.

Happy Birthday to me

34 more days to go...

I'm thirty!!! And now that I'm an expert at being thirty, I highly recommend it. This was, by far, the best birthday yet. Can't wait for the party tomorrow night:)

Breaking a Pattern

35 more days to go...

With a little more than a month to go, I'm wondering if I've broken my pattern of my crazy shopping habit. Hmmm....that's still up for debate, but I hope so:) Is it bad that all I can think about is what I should buy first?

Twice as Nice

37, 36 more days to go...

When you find something you love, you want to do it, use it, eat it, wear it, whatever it all the time. I'm sort of in love with this new sweater coat from Nick...it's so comfy and warm and makes me smile. I know I wore this just last week but I couldn't help myself again this week:)

Especially on such a snowy day, warmth and comfy are two of my top priorities.

Going for comfort again...leggings and a cotton pullover...

End of a Decade

38 more days to go...

This week is my last week in my twenties...good-bye twenties:) What will I miss from the past decade of my life? Well, for one, youth. Thirties sound much older than twenties...even though I don't feel old or think I look old, it's still older. I'm not even considered a young adult anymore, just an adult now. That's really about it. I certainly won't miss bad rental apartments, always being broke, crazy makeup, weird dates, and all the what if's of the twenties. Thirties are looking pretty good:)

My black and white blouse belonged to my mom when she was in her twenties. Maybe it will last thirty more years for me to pass it on to my daughter...

Ladies Night

41, 40, 39 more days to go...

Someone recently asked me just how many girls night a week I had because it seems like every night is a girls night. Not sure about you, but I love my girlfriends. Ooh, I just thought of another resolution for this year...spend even more time with all my lovely gal pals, especially the ones that live really far away from me.

Friday night was ladies night in the city. My neighborhood gang got together for dinner in the Art museum section of the city while the boys watched the worst sounding movie ever...I don't even want to mention it. My girl date outfit: a black and white silk dress with a cropped cardigan and of course the leggings.

Saturday was suppose to be another all girl date downtown with the city ladies but a minor snow storm nipped that in the bud. I stayed in bed all day and didn't bother changing out of my pj's. I LOVE snow days:)

Sunday was a birthday brunch for Porter. The first birthday is quite a big deal. I think the first anything is quite a big deal. This year, I'll try to have more firsts.

My outfit of the day: jean and a ruffled cardigan from Anthropologie (another present from Nick:))

Not a Tutu

43 more days to go...

It's apparently never appropriate to wear a tutu unless you are under the age of six or an actual ballerina. Who would of thought, cause I'm pretty sure that SJP was wearing one in the opening credits of Sex and the City. But ever since I watched the Black Swan, I am obsessed with the ballerina look. It's so whimsical and feminine and I love layers of tulle and diaphanous fabrics.

Here is another dress that I've never worn from my closet...very ballerina-esque. The reason I haven't worn it yet? It's too short and the skirt part is very see-through. Good thing it's still leggings week. Seriously, I almost never want to wear anything else, ever.

Black Swan

44 more days to go...

Black leggings go with pretty much everything, don't they? So easy! It's been almost a year since I started really paying attention to how I get dress, what I like to wear, how it makes me feel, and all that other analytical stuff. I think I can come up with a top ten list of things that everyone should have in their closet and be happy with their outfit everyday...and leggings are now officially on that list. I topped my leggings with a swan printed top and a black cardigan. Maybe a bit too much black, but it's dreary out... so whatever. A dark purple dress coat and some high heeled booties and out the door I go.

BTW, Black Swan was the creepiest movie I've seen in ages. I love ballerinas and all the beautiful costumes they get to wear...is there ever an appropriate time to wear a tutu out?

Painting the town red

45 more days to go...

My first meatless Monday and it was successful. Yay! Day 3 of the new year and I haven't broken any promises yet. I love the start of the new year because it's the sense that all bad things are wiped away, you can start over if you need to. No judgment, at least not yet.

I wore another present from Nick today, a watercolor print blouse. Oh, and this past weekend, we cleared out one of our closets to make donations to the Salvation Army and I found a pair of leggings that I forgot about. Man-oh-man am I excited. I haven't wore leggings in like a hundred years....and I've forgotten how comfy they are! Kinda like tighter sweatpants... so this week will be an all leggings week. My jeans totally need a break:) So sweatpants, I mean leggings, an artsy blouse, tall boots, and a bright red coat seems like the perfect way to start the new week in a new year.

Another resolution: discover more of Philly that I'm unfamiliar with.

Happy Birthday, Porter! (One is a great year)

New Year, New Clothes

46 more days to go...

I may have forgotten to mention all the new clothes that I got for Christmas this year. Nick certainly did quite a good job shopping for me while I can't for myself. Exhibit A, a flowery sweater coat, perfect for the chilly but not-so-cold days:)

I, just like everyone else at this time, have been thinking about my resolutions for 2011. I already feel like I'm cured of my bad shopping habits, so what next? On the top of my list...I want to finish my kitchen..but that will probably take all year. So my easy one this year is to try to eat less meat. Meatless Mondays is what I'm going for. This may sound easy to you, but a few years back I tried to be a vegetarian but that ended after only 2 days with me binging on a pack of hot dogs to make up for the 2 days that I didn't have meat.

Happy New Year

59, 58, 57, 56, 55, 54, 53, 52, 51, 50, 49, 48, 47 more days to go...

Happy New Year!!! I've seemed to have slacked off the past few weeks with my postings...but you know how it is...families and holidays and families and friends and dinners and finally exhaustion. But what a great end of the year it has been:)

Jeans were my new (old) (always) best friend these few weeks of hectic holiday cheer. With all the snow that we got, I don't really have any other warm pants except maybe some fleece sweatpants.

As for Christmas Eve, my younger brother and youngest sister came to Philly to celebrate the holidays with us:) Jonathan and Stacey plus Nick and I did nothing but eat, sleep, and play Pictionary the entire week. It was nothing short of awesome.

Christmas Day...was also pretty awesome. More sleeping and of course opening presents by the fire with blueberry pancakes...what could be better? There I am with my favorite sweatshirt on. I know, I know..but it was Christmas morning! And it was cold...so there, that's my reason. I eventually showered and changed for dinner with the Iott family. (Look how cute Stacey is with all the wrapping paper.)

Dinner at the Nick's brother's house was warm and cozy...plus this was the first time that I had anyone from my side of the family with me while celebrating with Nick's. It definitely made this Christmas one the the best:) Nick must have gotten sick of me always stealing his hat, so for my present, he got me my own. It was the cutest hat ever and so I decided to not take it off (plus, I don't have to do anything with my hair:)).

And of course, New Year's Eve. We attended a Mad Men themed party and I have to say that we all looked pretty amazing. Nick was adorable channeling Don Draper and I found a brocade sheath and borrowed everyone's fur for my sixties vibe. Loved it!

Look how lovely all my ladies look:) Happy New Year! And may this be the best year yet!
